What i need to film.

There are still some parts of the song that i have not yet filmed for so this week i will be having a third day of filming and i also still need to re-film some more of my clips because the background of them wasn't right. I have planned out what i need to film so i wont be filming unnecessary clips that i don't need.

Editing my video.

Today i started to edit all my clips together to start the making of my music video, i am using i movie to do this. When editing i have had to get the lip syncing in time with the music over the top and doing this has meant i have had to re-film some clips because the quality of the lip syncing wasn't a high enough standard. After re-filming and using the new clips it has been much easier to get in in time.

I have chosen to use a black and white affect throughout my video because i feel like is a simple affective way to help things stand out but also blend well together. After adding the black and white affect i felt like the clips were still quite light and not dark enough so i went onto 'video adjustments' and changed the brightness and contrast of the clips.

Here is a before and after of a clip after i done this. I feel like it has made the clip sharper and helps the shadow in the background to stand out a lot more against the wall and gives it more definition.

Second day of filming.

Today i re-filmed some of the previous clips i filmed because the quality or location wasn't good. I also filmed some successful new clips that i have now started to edit together on imovie. Here are some screenshots of clips that i filmed today :

First day of filming

Today i done my first attempt of filming. After importing my clips to imovie i discovered that some the the clips i filmed have to be redone because the quality on some of them doesn't look professional. However some clips were good quality and were okay to use for my video. Here are some screenshots of clips that were affective and i will be keeping:

Here i filmed a close up of Hollys lips while she was lip syncing. I then added a black and white affect over it.

Here i just filmed Holly's shadow on the wall rather than actually filming holly, i think the affect i made with lighting really helped the shadow to stand out against the wall. 

I have now started using imovie to edit the clips together. This week i will filming to rest of what i need to do and also re-filming the parts that i need to.

Starting to plan the layout of my music video.

Today on imovie i started to plan the layout of my music video, doing this has helped me to know what i exactly need to film so i'm not filming clips that i don't end up using because this can be time consuming. Here is what my layout looks like so far:

The planning of my music video- Hair and Makeup.

For my music video i want to keep things simple but affective. I have chose to keep Hollys makeup natural with a light smokey eye with pale natural lipstick.

For Holly's hair i have chose to have natural 'beach waves', i think this is a really affective look as its simply but having Hollys hair down will work well when she is dancing.

The planning of my music video- The location.

For my location i wanted somewhere that had plain walls but would be effective. I also needed somewhere with enough space for Holly to dance throughout the video. After looking into different locations i have decided the best place for filming my music video will be the drama studio. The drama studio has plain walls with black curtains and black floor space for Holly to dance on, i think the black curtains and floor will contrast well with her outfit.

The planning of my music video- costume and actor.

As i now know the song i will be using for my music video this has allowed me to start planning everything. I have chosen my actor in the video will be Holly who has already featured in my previous work so i know she is a good choice for this type of thing. The first thing i decided on was the costume, in the video Holly will be wearing a plain black crop top with plain black leggings and white shoes. I chose to keep the costume simple but affective.

Starting to plan my main task music video

Today i chose the song i will be using. I have decided it will be 'love on top' by Beyonce, i chose this song because it is a vary upbeat song and this will help while creating the music video because i can use the beats to make different movements within the video. Another reason i chose this song is because the song is not dull and makes people think of having a good time because it is so upbeat.

What I plan to do for my main task

For my main task I have decided I will be creating a music video. I decided this because I really enjoyed the work I previously done for the preliminary task. My music video genre will be pop music and style models will be videos such as Beyoncé videos. I chose Beyoncé because her videos are upbeat and are often fun to watch.

I am really happy with how our music video turned out as this was our first time using imovie and using cameras to film.

Group task- Editing

We decided not to use any kind of transitions to connect our footage as we wanted it to look snappy to go with the song we were using.We did however decide to speed up some parts of our footage to fit in with the faster parts of the song. To do this we changed the clip and source duration: 

We then had to mute all of the clips so the people watching the video could only hear the song and not the background noises of the filming. After muting the clips we then added the song we are using into the clips:

Group task- The last day of filming and starting the editing

Today we did our last day of filming, we have now started editing the video using imovie. While using imovie we have added a black and white affect because it goes really well with the costumes and locations. Here is a screenshot of the video with the black and white affect:

As we decided to do our whole video with a black and white affect we needed to apply it to all our chosen clips. We done this by using  clip adjustments and selecting black and white.

Today filming was more successful as Holly and Danny both had been practising their lip syncing and have improved greatly, this alone helped the quality of the video. Another thing that improved was the costumes, They both wore matching colour clothing and this helped the video look more professional.

Group task- first filming day

Today we filmed our first attempts of our music video and from this we learnt some things for when we next film. We learnt that costumes will be very important because today Holly and Danny did not have matching colour clothes on and this affected the quality of the video. Another thing we learnt is Holly and Danny both need to practise lip synching because this also affects the quality the videos.

The costumes

For the music video we have decided to keep the costumes plain. Both Holly and Danny will be wearing a Plain black top and pants. We decided this because the black tops will sometimes blend into the backgrounds of our locations but will also stand out against some of our locations as well. we think this will create good affects throughout.

Location

For our music video we decided to use the black curtain in the drama studio. We chose this location because the black curtain will give a good affect and it will help the two actors stand out more because the background wont take away the attention of them both.

Throughout the video we also used plain white walls and we used a projector to create a black and white affect on Holly's face.

   

Music video planning

As i have previously blogged me and my group chose to use Ariana Grande's song 'Problem'. Now we have chose the song we are now going to start planning more into it. This involved picking locations, costumes and props. Throughout the next week i will be blogging the process of making the music video.

Music Video- group tasks.

Preliminary Taks: 

Today working in groups we have decided what song we will be choosing to do for our preliminary task. After looking all different varieties of music videos we have chosen 'problem' my Ariana Grande. we chose this because the song has a strong good beat throughout which means we can use these beats throughout making our music video. we will also include lip syncing, close up and beat movements. we also decided that two members of our group Danny and Holly will be featured in our video.
